FROSTBURG, MD —
The Frostburg State women's soccer team's dream season will continue on into the postseason, as the Bobcats have earned their first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Frostburg State, which learned of its selection late Sunday night after winning its first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship, will take on regional host Messiah (Pa.) College on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Grantham, Pa.
The Falcons, winners of the Middle Atlantic Conference, are 16-1 overall and currently ranked 12th in the most recent NSCAA/adidas Division III Poll.
The winner of the FSU-Messiah contest will face Scranton, Mary Washington or Gwynedd-Mercy in the regional final on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
"I'm very excited for our players and for our program," said Head Coach Carrie Lysik, who has guided the Bobcats to a 39-21 record in her three seasons, including this year's record-setting 17-4 mark.
"It's certainly a thrill to represent Frostburg State and the AMCC in the national tournament. The players have worked extremely hard all season, and I'm very happy proud of how we have come together, especially with 11 freshmen and several other newcomers on this year's team."
A full preview will be released later this week.
