- The Frostburg State women's soccer team has earned its national bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament following a strong finish, which included a successful defense of its AMCC conference title. They will begin their title run at Westminster College on Wednesday November 13th at 1:00 p.m.
FSU, who battled on September 10th in a 3-2 loss at Westminster, will again travel but with much more at stake.
FSU earned the selection by finishing their season on a four-game winning streak including an second straight AMCC Championship and an upset shutout win over regionally ranked Carnegie Mellon.
They also posted an impressive school record seven overtime battles in which they finished 3-0-4. Also, of their seven losses, fourcame against teams that are regionally ranked and three of the losses were by only one goal.
The Bobcats will make their second straight trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament, as last season they were ousted in the second round by Messiah, 7-0 (FSU earned a first round bye).
“It is clear to me that the selection committee real sent a message that strength of schedule and quality games is a factor,” said Head Coach Brian Parker. “I feel our team is much more prepared than they were last season because of the amount of difficult opponents.”
