Women's Soccer Earns Third Straight NCAA Bid
11/10/2003

Complete NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Bracket

FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State has earned its third straight berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament and will host Westminster (Pa.) College in a first-round game Wednesday at 1:00 pm.

Admission to the game will be $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for senior citizens and students from one of the participating schools with proper ID and $2.00 for children 12 and under. There are no complimentary admissions for any NCAA Championship games.

Wednesday's winner will advance to face Scranton (20-0-1) in the region semifinals Saturday at 5:00 pm at Muhlenberg College.

The Bobcats and Lady Titans will meet in the NCAA first round for the second year in a row. Westminster posted a 4-1 victory in New Wilmington, Pa., last year.

The teams have already met once this season, with the Bobcats notching a 1-0 victory October 26 in Frostburg.

FSU earned its third straight at-large NCAA bid after another stellar season.

The Bobcats posted a 15-4 record and captured their first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular-season title with a 6-0 mark.

The Bobcats then downed La Roche 3-1 in the AMCC Tournament semifinals and beat Penn State Behrend 4-2 in the AMCC championship game Saturday for their third straight conference tournament crown.

The Bobcats enter the NCAA Tournament riding a school-record 11-game winning streak. Their 15 wins is the second-highest total in the program's 10-year history (trailing the 17 wins in 2001), while their four losses is the fewest ever.

Westminster (16-6) captured its second straight Presidents' Athletic Conference title by upending top-seed Grove City 3-2 in the PAC Championship game Saturday.

The Lady Titans' 16 wins ties the school record set just last year.
