GREENSBURG, PA -
Sophomore Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, Md.)
scored twice, including the game-winner 8:45 into the first overtime, to lift No. 3 Frostburg State to a 2-1 win over No. 2 Pitt-Greensburg in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcats (9-7-4), the defending AMCC champions, will play at top-seeded La Roche in the title match on Saturday at 2:00 pm. La Roche edged Penn State Behrend, 2-1, in the other semifinal Wednesday afternoon. FSU will look to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Redhawks during the regular season.
Frostburg State, which fell to UPG, 4-0, October 16, got on the board first when Kotofski converted a penalty kick in the 14th minute.
Pitt-Greensburg (11-6) looked to pull even but missed a penalty kick of its own later in the first half.
FSU was then forced to play a man down for the remaining 56:45 of the contest after an ejection due to a red card in the 42nd minute.
UPG pulled even with 24 minutes left in regulation as freshman Jessica Phillippi connected on another penalty kick to force overtime.
Kotofski then moved around two UPG defenders and drove the ball into the upper left corner of the net for her team-high 16th goal of the year.
Junior Stephanie Zych (Guilderland/Slingerlands, N.Y.) made eight saves and now has a school-record 329 for her career, surpassing Jessica Richardson's former mark of 327.
