Case Western senior Sarah Rogers scored twice to lead the host Spartans to a narrow 2-1 win over Frostburg State Saturday afternoon.
Case Western (11-3), ranked eighth in the recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America Great Lake Region rankings, opened the scoring when Rogers found the net in the game's 24th minute.
The remainder of the first half was scoreless, and the Spartans took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
Rogers notched her second goal of the game in the 55th minute to give CWR some crucial breathing room.
The Bobcats (6-7-4) cut their deficit in half in the 76th minute when sophomore Erika Neuser (Fallston/Forest Hill, Md.) deflected a crossing pass from classmate Alyse Reed (Cherry Hill East/Cherry Hill, N.J.) off the far post, but that was as close as FSU would get.
CWR sophomore Jean Enge-Janes made six saves in the win, while Bobcat junior Stephanie Zych (Guilderland/Slingerlands, N.Y.) stopped eight shots.
Frostburg State faces another tough contest on Tuesday when it visits Carnegie Mellon, ranked sixth in the Great Lakes region, at 7:30 pm.
