Carlisle, Pa. ...
Dickinson sophomore Alyssa Carlow scored the game-winning goal with 5:26 left in the second overtime to lift the Red Devils past Frostburg State, 2-1, in the championship game of the Red Devil Invitational Sunday afternoon.
The loss snapped FSU's school-record five-game winning streak to open the season, while Dickinson improved to 4-1.
After the teams battled through a scoreless first half, Frostburg State senior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) found the net off a crossing pass from freshman Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./North East) for her team-high fifth goal of the year with 29:38 left in regulation.
Dickinson pulled even on Suzanne Eshelman's header with 21:12 remaining to send the game into overtime.
Frostburg State nearly pulled out the win in the second overtime, but Kotofski's shot hit the crossbar with just over seven minutes left.
Sophomore Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) tied her career high with 10 saves for the Bobcats, who were whistled for 23 fouls compared to 11 for the Red Devils. The game also featured five yellow cards, including four against Frostburg State.
The Bobcats will look to return to their winning ways on Wednesday when they visit No. 6 Ohio Wesleyan for a 5:00 p.m. match.
