Women's Soccer Remains Perfect in AMCC With Win Over La Roche
10/04/2001

PITTSBURGH, PA — Senior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) and freshman Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast) scored their 11th goals of the season to lead Frostburg State to a 3-1 win over host La Roche College in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match Thursday afternoon.

The Bobcats won for the sixth time in their last seven games to improve to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the AMCC, while the Redhawks fell to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in league action.

Freshman Erika Neuser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) put the Bobcats on the board first when she found the net off an assist from classmate Becky Rambo (Freeland, Md./Hereford) just 5:30 into the game, and FSU took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Kotofski gave the Bobcats a 2-0 lead only 1:22 into the second half with an assist from junior Tiffany Parker (Pasadena, Md./Northeast). Kotofski has scored all 11 of her goals in her last seven games.

La Roche closed to within one less than four minutes later when Kate Bianco sent home a pass from Crystal Gaydoscik.

Foote then sealed the win in the 83rd minute when she notched her 42nd career goal, moving her to within one goal of Erin Hawley's school mark of 43 set from 1994 to 1997. Foote, who scored her fifth goal in her last four games, also has 101 career points and is just nine shy of Hawley's school-record 110.

Sophomore Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) made six saves to improve to 11-2. The Bobcats outshot the Redhawks, 28-14.

Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday when it visits Pitt-Bradford at 1:00 p.m. in another key AMCC contest.
