NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. —
Christina Adams scored the game-winning goal just over two minutes into the contest to lift Westminster past Frostburg State, 2-0, in the ECAC Division III Women’s South Soccer Championship, Thursday.
FSU’s season ends with a 12-7 overall record while Westminster (14-5-2) will now host both semifinal matches and the championship game this weekend. In the semifinals, the Titans will square off against fourth-seeded Gettysburg (13-6-1) on Saturday at 11:00 am.
Adams opened the scoring when she connected on a shot that was rebounded off Bobcat keeper Stephanie Banaszak (Warrenton, Va./Faquier).
WC added an insurance goal at 54:32 in the second period when Christa Andamasaris drilled a free kick past the outstretched arms of Banaszak.
FSU was outshot 12-3 in the first half and 6-5 in the second.
Banaszak suffered the loss for Frostburg State making seven saves and allowing two goals. Lindsey Mellott played the entire game in net for the Titans, earning the win and making seven saves.
