FROSTBURG, MD. —
Senior Lindsay Hoffman (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson)
and freshman Lauren Lentine (Princeton, N.J./WWP North)
each scored a goal to lead the Bobcats to a 2-0 victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend, Sunday afternoon on Senior day.
With the win Frostburg State improves its overall record to 7-5 and 6-0 in the AMCC and takes over sole possession of first place in the conference. With the loss, Penn State Behrend falls to 8-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the league.
Lentine scored the game’s first goal just 2:59 in the first period to give the host’s the early lead.
The game remianed scoreless for the rest of the half as the teams headed into the locker room.
The Bobcats added an insurance goal from Hoffman with just 15 minutes remaining in the game for a 2-0 edge. The goal was her team-leading seventh of the season.
Behrend had its best chances in the 58th and 88th minutes, respectively, when sophmore Nikki Frisbee and Cassie Berlin had shots that narrowly missed the net by hitting the post.
FSU outshot PSB 20-10 during the contest.
Freshman Stephanie Gwinn (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) earned her sixth win for the Bobcats, making six saves. Lion keeper Kayla Frost made seven saves for the Lions while suffering the loss.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, October 17 when they travel to conference opponent Mt. Aloysius at 4:00 pm.
