PITTSBURGH, Pa. —
The Frostburg State women’s tennis team improved its record to 4-5 on the season with a 9-0 shutout of Chatham, Sunday.
FSU won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in straight sets for the first time this season.
Junior Heather Potosnak (Easton, Md./Montville Township (NJ)) and freshman Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) took home No. 1 doubles with a 8-0 win over Becca Mohan and Rebecca Minges. At the No. 2 doubles spot, junior Jenn Tolbert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) combined with classmate Amy Brenneman (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) to defeat Julie Cacurak and Sara Bacvinskas, 8-1.
Junior Sarah Eisel (Frostburg, Md./Beall) led the Bobcats winning the top singles match, defeating Cacurak, 6-0, 6-1. Tolbert earned a win in No. 2 singles downing Mohan, 6-4, 6-3 and Shedd won No. 3 singles over Minges, 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Kim Hardy (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's) and sophomore Alex Buchanan (Stockton, Md./Pocomoke) rounded out the singles victories. Hardy won the fourth position over Bacvinskas with a score of 6-0, 6-1 and Buchanan shutout Kaylee Johns 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth spot.
FSU also earned forfeit victories in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Frostburg State returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Shenandoah at 4:00 pm.
