Frostburg State University will be represented in three events at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held this weekend at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
Junior Maria Ferguson (Laurel/Fairmount Heights, Md.) will compete in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
The 200-meter trials will be Thursday at 4:00 pm, while the 100-meter trials will be Friday at 7:25 pm. Event finals are scheduled for Saturday, with the 100-meter at 3:00 pm and the 200-meter at 4:00 pm.
Ferguson qualified for both events at the Towson Open May 10. She posted a time of 12.08 in the 100-meter dash, which is the eighth-fastest in Division III this season. She added a time of 25.23 in the 200-meter dash, which ranks 21st in the nation.
Ferguson will then join freshman Chelsea Lewis (Pike/Indianapolis, Ind.), freshman Heather Lease (Fort Hill/Cumberland, Md.) and senior Serena Wheeler (Mergenthaler/Baltimore, Md.) in the 4x100-meter relay.
Trials are set for Thursday at 6:25 pm with the final slated for Saturday at 1:40 pm.
The quartet qualified with a time of 48.25 at the Towson Open, the 15th-fastest time in Division III this year.
"Nationals has always been the objective from day one," said Bobcat head coach Felix Moreno. "In spite of our tough recent weather, our athletes remain very focused for what should be a very strong meet."
