Training & Development > Objective

In accordance with this mission for FY 2006, OHR has established ten specific departmental goals. Two of these goals relate to training and development. These goals are to increase the use of SkillSoft E-learning by the University users and to establish a SkillSoft Blended Learning Program (BLP) that will supplement SkillSoft courses. Both goals support institutional goals which mandate training and professional development for faculty and staff. Beyond fulfilling our institutional and departmental goals, the training and development program is also intended to benefit participants in the following ways:

  • Help promote continuous performance improvement;
  • Encourage career-long learning;
  • Provide an environment that fosters learning and encourages employee participation;
  • Provide learning experiences that facilitate the improvement of employee reasoning, confidence, judgment, and self-esteem;
  • Cultivate a work culture that provides a balance between organizational goals and personal development; and
  • Encourage employees to get involved in the education of other employees through course facilitation.
