FSU and City of Frostburg Announce Historic Agreement to Improve Public Safety
Frostburg State University President Jonathan Gibralter and City of Frostburg Mayor Robert Flanigan announced a historic agreement at the Feb. 16 Frostburg Mayor and Council meeting. The two-pronged approach is designed to improve public safety through shared jurisdiction in the neighborhoods immediately surrounding the campus and through funding from FSU that will allow the City of Frostburg to boost its police staffing and salaries, as well as support other City safety measures.

53rd Meeting of Society for Economic Botany to Be Held at Frostburg State University
Ethnobotany of Mountain Cultures Is Theme of Weeklong Conference

FROSTBURG, Md. The Society for Economic Botany (SEB) will hold its 53rd Annual Meeting at Frostburg State University from Sunday, June 3, through Thursday, June 7, with a theme of Ethnobotany of Mountain Cultures. The meeting, presented with the support of Allegany College of Maryland, will feature a wide range of experiences, including symposium sessions, workshops and field trips as well as entertainment, food celebrating Appalachian food traditions and a farmers market.

FSU to Collaborate With Allegany County BOE and ACM on Pathways to Success
Frostburg State University recently received a $40,000 College Preparation Intervention Program award from the Maryland Higher Education Commission to provide information to second semester high school juniors and next falls seniors about the range of career options available through post-secondary education and prepare them to take college-level courses. This Pathways to Success Project will be done in collaboration with the Allegany County Board of Education and Allegany College of Maryland.
