Member of the Allegany County Road Commission 1923-1930; member, Maryland State senate 1930-1934; member and chairman of the Maryland State Road Commission 1938-1939; elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1943-January 3, 1953); was not a candidate for reelection in 1952; elected to the United States Senate as a Republican in 1952, reelected in 1958 and served until January 1965.
Senator Beall’s official papers were destroyed when he left office, however, many of his personal papers are housed in the collection
