FSU becomes a registrant of AASHE STARS. LGLG will submit a report for the Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment Rating System (STARS) during the 2011-2012 academic year.

Constellation Energy EcoStar Grant to Support Campus-wide Energy Audit. Thanks to Constellation Energy, students, faculty and staff at Frostburg State University will be able to move forward with a campuswide energy audit this fall, as part of FSU’s ongoing efforts to become a more sustainable campus.

LED Exit Signs. The University recently replaced over 800 incandescent electric exit signs across campus with LED exit signs.  The new LED signs use approximately seven percent of the energy of their predecessors.  FSU expects to save approximately 45,552 KWH (or about $4,000) annually.

Performing Arts Center Lighting. The current lighting system of the Performing Arts Center is being replaced with high efficiency lamps, which will result in approximately a 50 percent reduction in electrical energy usage for lighting.

Occupancy Sensors. In collaboration with the Allegheny Power rebate program, FSU has installed occupancy sensors in Gunter Hall, Guild Hall, and the Stangle Building.  Annual savings are estimated to be in the range of $5000-$8000 per year.
