Frostburg State University has submitted its self-study to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. We are now preparing to host a team from the Commission as part of the regular ten-year evaluation process. The team’s visit is scheduled for April 2-5, 2006.

The steering committee guided the development of a comprehensive self-study. In doing so, the committee examined evidence relevant to fourteen accreditation standards that have been identified by Middle States. These standards are thoroughly described in the Commission’s publication, Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education, and on the Commission’s website at http://www.msche.org/.

While demonstrating compliance with the Commission’s standards is an essential element of the accreditation process, the focus of the steering committee’s work has been on institutional improvement. The self-study, in addition to identifying both strengths and challenges facing the University, offers recommendations for strengthening the institution and the learning experiences that we create for our students. The steering committee hopes that the University will benefit from this self-study that is candid in its assessment, and constructive in its recommendations.

You will find at this site a number of links to pertinent information regarding the self-study process. Please feel free to contact any member of the Self-Study Steering Committee should you require further information.
