Ronald Nowaczyk has been appointed president of Frostburg State University by the University System of Maryland. Nowaczyk is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Clarion University in Pennsylvania. He will join Frostburg as president on May 9, 2016.

According to one of her oldest friends, Sarah Grace Guthrie, Frostburg State University Class of ’06, had always been one of those people, until she passed away from a sudden illness at the age of 26.

FSU’s Dr. Xunyu Pan Presents Research on Mobile Music Visualization at Electronic Imaging Conference

Dr. Xunyu Pan, an assistant professor in Frostburg State University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technologies, recently presented a research paper titled “Musical Instruments Simulation on Mobile Platform” at the 28th Electronic Imaging Conference in San Francisco. The paper was co-authored by FSU graduate students Megan Balukoff and Jacob Wilson.

FSU Police Officer Punched While Breaking Up Early-Morning Fight

At about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, at Frostburg State University, a fight among about six men started at an exterior entranceway to Westminster Hall, a residence hall. Two FSU police officers entered the entranceway to break up the fight, at which point one was punched in the face, and pepper spray was deployed to break up the fight.

Frostburg State University Will Offer Maryland Certified Pool Operator Certification and Recertification

A Maryland certified pool operator certification and recertification class will be offered through Frostburg State University’s Activities for Life in room 220B of FSU’s Cordts Physical Education Center. The recertification class will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The full certification class will be on Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both dates.
