NIAAA honors Jonathan Gibralter with Senator Harold Hughes Award

Jonathan Gibralter, Ph.D., president of Frostburg State University (FSU), received the Senator Harold Hughes Memorial Award today from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), part of the National Institutes of Health.  NIAAA Director George Koob, Ph.D., announced his selection during the 139th meeting of the National Advisory Council on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Frostburg State Student’s Work With D.C. Trees Sends Her to South Africa

Which tree-lined streets in our nation’s capital could be different in future generations because of research completed by Frostburg State University students? Ethnobotany graduate student Laura Smith may know. She has spent the last two years combing through and visualizing data of 157,000 trees in Washington, D.C., to evaluate pest and disease impact on the urban forest.

Gaumer Given FSU President’s Distinguished Faculty Award

Dr. Carol Gaumer, a professor in the Department of Marketing and Finance at Frostburg State University, has been selected as the fourth recipient of the President’s Distinguished Faculty Award from FSU President Jonathan Gibralter, an award he established to recognize and encourage those faculty members who advance the University’s mission and goals and its strategic planning initiatives.

Frostburg State University Awards First Doctorates

Three years after establishing the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Frostburg State University will award degrees to the first 13 students at the 146th Commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m., making FSU officially a doctoral-granting institution.

Frostburg State University Marketing Students Create Plan for Allegany Museum

The Allegany Museum in Cumberland could see more visitors and dollars come through its doors thanks to a study from Frostburg State University marketing students.

As part of a capstone course, MKTG 469 Marketing Plans Development, undergraduate marketing majors team up to take on clients from the community that receive free research and advice after a semester’s worth of work.

FSU Center for Creative Writing Awarded Grant for One-Act Playwriting Festival

The Frostburg Community Trust Foundation recently awarded a grant of $1,500 to the Frostburg State University Center for Creative Writing in support of the Frostburg One-Act Playwriting Festival, which is scheduled this year for Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Palace Theatre on Main Street in Frostburg.

FSU’s Center for Creative Writing Closes Semester with Rock ’n’ Read Fundraiser

Frostburg State University’s Center for Creative Writing wrapped up its events for the spring 2015 semester with a Rock ’n’ Read fundraiser on Sunday, May 3. The events included the Poetry Grand Slam, a public Sudden Slam, the opening of the Word & Image art project and live music. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the center.
