The recognition by AHA follows a year-long series of programs focusing on wellness, including many activities and events organized by FSU’s Office of Human Resources and CHILL (Creating Healthy, Informed, Lasting Lifestyles), a campus-wide wellness initiative supported by a contribution from AstraZeneca. Highlights from FSU’s efforts to promote wellness include several workshops with wellness and fitness expert Scott Cole as well as campus walks and other activities focusing on exercise and stress management.

The Fit Friendly Company award will help FSU to raise its profile as an institution committed to fostering wellness at the workplace and enable it to partner with the AHA in offering resources, materials and consultation that support the University’s workplace wellness endeavors. As part of receiving this new status, FSU will be recognized on the AHA’s Web site as well as at local AHA events in Maryland. The AHA will also list FSU in various communication materials supporting the recognition program.

Additionally, the University received a recognition plaque to display in its Human Resources office, where both current and prospective employees will be able to see the award and learn how FSU is committed to wellness.
