On/Off/Over the Edge, a traveling exhibition from the American Print Alliance, will be on display at Frostburg State University from Friday, Feb. 7, through Wednesday, Feb. 26. The opening reception on Feb. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. is free and open to the public.
The prints, paperworks and bookworks selected for this traveling exhibition by the Alliance explore the concept of the edge in all of its possibilities, from figurative to literal, formal to conceptual, psychological to physical. Judges accepted all print, papermaking and book arts techniques from low tech to high tech, including computer or digital printmaking. Entries came from subscribers to the Alliances' journal, "Contemporary Impressions," and from members of the printmakers' councils in the Alliance.
On/Off/Over the Edge will travel through 2003 through small towns, major cities, neighborhood arts centers and in colleges and universities from Florida to Washington.
The American Print Alliance is a non-profit consortium of printmakers' councils representing about 4,500 artists in the United States and Canada. For more information, visit www.PrintAlliance.org.
