Frostburg State University's Center Stage will present "Kandahar" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the Lane University Center's Atkinson Room as part of its International Film Series. This series is sponsored by Center Stage and the Department of Student & Community Involvement.
Shot on the border of Iran and Afghanistan, "Kandahar" is inspired by the true story of actress Niloufar Pazira, who plays the part of the main character, Nafas,a journalist who has escaped from Afghanistan with her family. Her sister, maimed by an exploded land mine and distraught by the constant persecution she experiences as a woman, has threatened to commit suicide by the next solar eclipse. So Nafas must return and race against time to rescue her sister.
