Frank Peto of Ridgeley, W.Va., has been appointed as director of Frostburg State University’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. The office assists in developing grant applications, administering grants awarded to the university and assuring compliance with federal and state research regulations.
Since 1986, Peto has served as executive director of the Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) of Appalachian Maryland, a consortium of eight institutions that pool resources to address local academic, social, cultural and economic needs. He has collaborated for many years with regional faculty at all levels of education. He has extensive experience in grant acquisition and implementation, fundraising and long-term planning.
“We are very pleased to have Frank join the Frostburg State University team,” says FSU President Catherine R. Gira. “He has over 30 years experience with education and State agencies and was instrumental, in his role at RESA, in helping FSU fund many of our education and science programs. We welcome his guidance and expertise.”
Peto received a Master of Arts in Education from George Washington University and took several courses in Education Administration at West Virginia University. He obtained an undergraduate degree in Education from California State College in Pennsylvania.
Peto will start his new position at FSU on Aug. 25. His initial appointment is on an interim basis for one year; a formal search will be conducted next spring.
