FSU Chamber Choir to Present Holiday Concert at Emmanuel Episcopal
The Frostburg State University Chamber Choir (formerly Collegium Musicum) will present its Holiday Concert at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. at the church at 16 Washington St. in Cumberland.
Under the direction of Dr. Karen Soderberg Sarnaker and Betty Jane Phillips, accompanist, the Chamber Choir's performance will include three settings of the text "O Magnum Mysterium" by the Canadian composer William Hawley, Morten Lauridsen (California) and Javier Busto (Spain). They will also perform the work commissioned for the Emmanuel's Bi-Centennial Celebration "Behold the Tabernacle of God" by Julian Wachner. Other works will include "Alleluia" by Ralph Manuel, "Nyathi Onyou," a Kenyan Luo Spiritual by Enrico Oweggi, the Polish carol "Lulajze," "Jezuniu" by Stephen Stucky (Lauren Spinnenweber, soprano). The Chamber Choir will conclude its performance with "Children, Go Where I Send Thee," arranged by Mark Hayes (Dr. Mary Mumper, soprano), "Snowfall," arranged by Gene Puerling, "A Christmas Love Song," arranged by Ed Lojeski and "Blackberry Winter" by Dave Cross with Dave Myers, tenor and Emily Fishell, alto.
