Frostburg State University’s Children’s Literature Centre will present children’s book illustrator Robert Bender at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3. The presentation will be held at the Frostburg Community Center, 27 Water Street.
Bender started his illustration career working for magazines and newspapers before drawing for children’s books. His passion for children’s literature began in 1992, when his girlfriend asked him to illustrate a children’s book for her. From there, Bender began his career and has illustrated 12 children’s books. His artwork has been described as whimsical, and has been featured in museums throughout the U.S.
Bender will speak about five of his books: “Barnyard Song,” “Lima Beans Would Be Illegal,” “The A to Z Beastly Jamboree,” “Ribbit Riddles” and “Never Eat Anything That Moves.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the FSU Children’s Literature Centre at 301-687-4420.
