Gary Van Zinderen, Frostburg State University's director of student activities, has been named Campus Event Planner of the Year, an award sponsored by College Power Performers.com: High Impact Celebrity Speakers & Entertainer and by Superior Programming Magazine.
He was selected in the "Best Connection to Students" category. Van Zinderen was first runner-up for the award last year.
Nominees were evaluated based on a combination of criteria, including organizational skills and professionalism, original event theme, promotional and marketing excellence, audience response, and friendliness and ease of collaboration.
The winning student activities professionals and student programmers were selected from over 1,700 campuses nationwide. The awards were created to honor their efforts, dedication and long hours that go into creating memorable campus events.
Power Performers is a speakers and entertainment bureau that provides motivational speakers, keynote speakers, performers and celebrities for campus events.
Van Zinderen has been at FSU since 2001, following similar positions at Ithaca College in New York and Johns Hopkins University.
