The Frostburg State University English Department, Faculty Development and the Sabbatical Committee presents a film lecture by Professor Alan Manton on Thursday, Oct. 28, in the Compton Science Center’s room 226, at 7:30 p.m.
The lecture will focus on two films by Quentin Tarantino (“Kill Bill” and “Kill Bill 2”) and a film by Pedro Almodovar (“Talk to Her”). Manton, currently a senior research fellow in English at the University of Plymouth, U.K., plans to feature film clips from these films and will show how Tarantino’s works, although they use innovative techniques, still draw upon known narrative tropes. Throughout the lecture, Manton will place both films against each other in order to show the differences and likenesses of the American film compared to the European film.
The talk is free and open to the public.
