Frostburg State University Director of Residence Life Dana Severance recently received the James Hurd Outstanding Service Award at the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO) conference this October.
Severance served as co-chair of the MACUHO 2004 conference. In the letter nominating Severance, Jennifer R. Adam, assistant dean at Colgate University, commended Severance for his chairing duties. Even though he faced setbacks when organizing the conference, he met and far surpassed all expectations for the conference. He has been noted for including the needs of all components and constituents of the region. He also worked to balance the needs of all committees. Through his active leadership in creating the MACUHO 2004 conference, he positively showcased professionals from the state of Maryland, Adam wrote.
Severance joined the Residence Life staff at Frostburg in 1995. He resides in Frostburg with his wife and two children. The James Hurd Outstanding Service Award is presented to an individual for outstanding contributions to MACUHO.
