Frostburg State University will present “Carmina Burana” as a part of the Cultural Events Main Stage Series on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall on campus.
“Carmina Burana,” performed by the Leah Stein Dance Company and the FSU Department of Music, will feature The Cumberland Choral Society, University Chorale, University Chamber Choir and a children’s chorus.
“Carmina Burana” fuses the forces of live dance, music and voice to create an unforgettable and exhilarating interpretation of Carl Orff’s 1937 musical masterpiece. Leah Stein, heralded as one of Philadelphia’s finest and most daring choreographers, in collaboration with FSU’s Choral Director Dr. Karen Soderberg-Sarnaker and Western Maryland’s own musicians, create a new choral/theatrical work that will bring the legendary “Carmina Burana” to life. Accomplished pianists Ellen Putnam and Betty Jane Phillips and dynamic percussionist Ron Horner will provide the accompanying music for this brilliant production.
