Frostburg State University' Season Too! will present "The Ornamental Hermit" on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center's F. Perry Smith Studio Theatre as the final production of the University Theatre 2004-05 season.
A mystifying comedy complete with love triangles and kissing bandits, Jocelyn Beard’s "The Ornamental Hermit" follows Lily Monteflurry, a southern belle with a foolhardy father and ruthless money-grubbing stepmother. To escape her stressful yet posh life, Lily ventures to the Rivermede garden with her friend Mehitable, a slave. While there she reads a story about the breathtaking Count Siegfried next to her broken-down “Temple of Aphrodite.” When Lily’s gallant Count mysteriously comes to life, trouble ensues on the Rivermede plantation.
