The Frostburg State University' Division of Performing Arts will present “An Evening of Flamenco” on Tuesday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
Mark Ferguson, flamenco guitarist, spent two years in Spain learning how to accompany flamenco song and dance, studying with top artists in the field. Vicente “El Cartucho” Griego from Embudo, N.M., has devoted his life to the study of flamenco singing and has also studied with renowned flamenco artists. Luc Savage, percussion - cajón instrument, is from Santa Fe, N.M., and resides in Pittsburgh, Pa. Carolina Loyola-Garcia, flamenco dancer, is the co-founder and director of Centro Flamenco de Pittsburgh. Originally from Chile, Carolina is both a visual/electronic media artist and a performer. Flamenco dancer Elba Cena is originally from Veracruz, Mexico. She began her studies in Spanish dance at the age of 4, under the tutelage of Martha Forthe and her mother Elba Zarate in Mexico City. Elba teaches at the Centro Flamenco de Pittsburgh.
