Frostburg State University’s Homecoming weekend comes to a close with the President’s concert on Sunday, Oct. 23, in the Performing Arts Center, Pealer Recital Hall, at 3 p.m. The concert will feature outstanding student and alumni musicians, new faculty artists, the FSU Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Choir.
Under the direction of Dr. Karen Soderberg-Sarnaker, the FSU Chamber Choir’s performance will include vocal jazz selections “Just in Time,” arranged by Steve Zegree, “Londonderry Air,” arranged by Phil Mattson, and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” arranged by Kirby Shaw.
The FSU student musicians who were selected to perform are Justin Barclay, baritone; Ryan Bowie, baritone; Krystle Hutton, soprano; Jeffrey Kelly, saxophone; Kara Klucsarits, clarinet; and Wayne Schmidt, tuba.
Alumnus Chris Alexander will also perform on guitar. Alexander earned a Bachelor of Science in Music degree from Frostburg State University and is currently completing his Master’s of Music degree in guitar performance at West Virginia University.
Faculty artists include Kristin Bacchiocchi Stewart on flute. Stewart, adjunct professor in flute, is completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Md.
