Frostburg State University's Cultural Events Series, in partnership with Windwood Theatricals and FSU Division of Performing Arts, present the stage version of the 1949 Marilyn Monroe musical, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" in preview performances at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 26, and at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, in FSU's Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre.
The enduringly popular musical is set in the roaring ‘20s and tells the story of a fun-loving and hedonistic gold-digger Lorelei Lee and her sail aboard the Ile de France to Paris with her chum Dorothy Shaw. The two ex-chorus girls chase men, get into trouble and sing a bevy of hit songs including “A Little Girl From Little Rock,” “Just A Kiss Apart,” “Bye Bye Baby,” “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” and, of course, “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.” Windwood Theatricals has presented numerous national tours to great acclaim, including last year’s “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”
The official hotel of the Cultural Events Series, Best Western - The Braddock, sponsors this event.
