Activities for Life at Frostburg State University will be offering two ballet classes for children of different ages through the end of April.
A Creative Movement ballet class for boys and girls ages 3 to 5 years will be held on Wednesdays from Feb. 15 to April 26 from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. in the Cordts Physical Education Center dance studio. (There will be no class March 22.) The class is designed with the very young dancer in mind, stressing natural dance movement, stretching, music appreciation and creative dance/movement. Movement focuses on coordination, large motor skills, musical awareness, spatial awareness and listening skills.
A Beginning Ballet Class for children ages 7 to 12 will meet on Saturdays from Feb. 18 to April 29 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the Cordts dance studio. (There will be no class on March 25.) The class will teach rudimentary skills of basic ballet including positions, balance, aplomb and basic steps. Dancers will be required to wear a black leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers. Hair must be secured off of the neck and floppy jewelry is not permitted.
