An Open Letter to the Frostburg State University Community from USM Chancellor William "Brit" Kirwan:
Thank you very much for your active participation in the recent on-campus meetings with the candidates for president of Frostburg State University. Your input is critical as we move into the final stages of selecting a new FSU president.
Timothy J. Flanagan, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, at the State University of New York, College at Brockport, has withdrawn his candidacy for president. In a letter to me, Flanagan said he has decided to pursue other opportunities. Flanagan added that he was "impressed by the many strengths of the university."
With Flanagan's withdrawal, the USM Board of Regents and I will interview two final candidates for the FSU presidency: Jonathan Gibralter, President, State University of New York at Farmingdale; and Maravene Loeschke, Provost, Wilkes University.
Again, we appreciate the valuable feedback that you have provided. We look forward to concluding this search with the appointment of a president who will continue to advance Frostburg State University.
