Frostburg State University's Master of Arts in Teaching – Elementary program is still accepting applications for the one-year program that begins studies this summer. An information meeting, which will include advising, will be held on Wednesday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Pullen Hall 149 at FSU's Frostburg campus.
The MAT – Elementary classes are held at the University System of Maryland – Hagerstown at 32 W. Washington St., but classes are also available online and through blended online and classroom instruction. Liberal studies graduates are encouraged to apply.
The MAT-E provides teacher certification for grades 1 through 6. The Praxis I test is required for admission. It can be taken at FSU's ETS Center in Pullen Hall. Student teaching placements are made in Professional Development Schools closest to the candidate's county of residence. There are schools in Allegany, Washington and Frederick counties.
