Frostburg State University Brings Top-Notch Comedians to Western Maryland
The University Programming Council is bringing top-notch comedians Joel Chasnoff and Roy Wood Jr. to Frostburg State University this fall. The performers, known as two of the brightest young comics in the country, perform at 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Lane University Center’s Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
On tour, Chasnoff has performed as the opening act for both Jon Stewart and Louis Black. He is most at home on the college scene where he is known as a clever comic who relishes sharing his college experiences on stage and who analyzes the often crazy and befuddled mindset of the college student.
Hailing from Birmingham, Ala., Wood Jr. started his comedy career in 1999 at the age of 19. His creative writing and dedicated work ethic have since earned him the right to perform in front of millions of Americans on various television programs, including the 2005-06 Seasons of Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and BET’s “Comic View.” The universal appeal of his comedy crosses all race and cultural lines and led him to open for comedians ranging from D.L. Hughley, Ron White, Monique, Tommy Davidson, Bill Engvall and Sheryl Underwood.
