Homecoming Weekend will end with the President’s Concert featuring student and alumni musicians, new faculty artists, the Frostburg State University Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Choir. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 3 p.m., Oct. 29, in the Pealer Recital Hall at the Performing Arts Center.
The Chamber Choir’s performance, under the direction of Dr. Karen Soderberg-Sarnaker, will include the madrigal selections “Fair Phyllis I Saw Sitting All Alone” by John Farmer, “Il Bianco e dolce cigno” by Jacob Arcadelt and PDQ Bach’s “My Bonnie Lass She Smelleth.” Betty Jane Phillips will accompany the Chamber Choir.
The concert will feature alumnus Todd Shelar on guitar and faculty artist Dr. Mark Gallagher. Shelar earned a Bachelor of Science in Music degree from FSU and is currently teaching studio guitar in Washington, DC. Dr. Gallagher, newly appointed assistant professor of theory and clarinet studies, is active as a solo performer throughout Europe and the United States. The performance will also include FSU student musicians who were selected to perform through a rigorous audition.
