Joan DeVee Dixon, associate professor of music at FSU, will present her fall faculty piano recital at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Frostburg State University’s Pealer Recital Hall in the Performing Arts Center.
Dixon’s concert will be preceded by a student piano recital featuring Annalee Pruitt, an FSU senior studying music and performance. Pruitt’s performance begins at 3 p.m., with works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, Grieg and Diemer.
Pruitt will also provide a multi-media presentation for Dixon’s concert, which will feature Emma Lou Diemer’s “Psalms for Piano.” The “Psalms for Piano” (2003) are a musical interpretation of biblical psalms.
Both recitals are free and open to the public. A reception will be held between Pruitt’s performance and Dixon’s concert.
Dixon made her professional debut with the Minnesota Orchestra at the invitation of Sir Neville Marriner. Since that time, she has conducted extensive concert tours of the United States, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Palestine and Japan. She now performs for music festivals, universities, schools, and churches all over the world.
