A holiday greeting card designed by Brian Collins, a senior studying visual art at Frostburg State University, was recently selected as the official card FSU will use to spread good tidings during the holiday season.
FSU President Dr. Jonathan Gibralter and his wife, Laurie, selected Collin’s card out of a variety of different designs submitted for consideration. Gibralter started the student design holiday greeting card contest this year as a way of acknowledging students’ contributions to FSU.
“Laurie and I were impressed with the caliber of the cards, which made the selection decision very difficult,” Gibralter said. “We are very pleased to have students who are so talented here at FSU.”
A native of Westminster, Md., Collins has enjoyed photography his whole life—he studied photography while attending Westminster High School, and currently spends time in the darkroom at FSU. The winning imagery he used in his holiday card design features a closely cropped composition of an evergreen cleanly outlined in ice that he captured during a frost last year. Collins loves doing landscape photography, and hopes to find opportunities to pursue his passion after he graduates in May 2007. He is the son of Bobbie and Larry Collins.
