The Frostburg State University Chamber Choir and University Chorale will present their winter choral concert, “’Tis the Season,” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, in the Pealer Recital Hall in the Performing Arts Center.
Admission is $5. Student admission is $3. Children under 16 are free. Tickets will be available at the door.
Under the direction of Dr. Karen Soderberg-Sarnaker, conductor, and assisted by Betty Jane Phillips, piano, the University Chorale’s performance will include “O Clap Your Hands” by John Rutter; “The Rune of Hospitality” by Alf Houkum; “The Lamb” by John Taverner; and “Corpus Christ Carol” by Trond Kverno. The performance will feature Jessie Ragland and Lauren Kuhn, sopranos; Afton Price, alto; Joshua Ruppenkamp, tenor; and Arnold McNeal and Joseph Brickey-Goldsmith, basses.
Other works include “Candle Blessings for Chanukah” by Joshua Jacobsen, featuring Kara Gross, soprano, and “The Snow Begins to Fall” by Andy Back. Senior Windy Neal will conduct the traditional Taita melody from Kenya, "Natufurahi Siku Ya Leo," arranged by Boniface Mganga and “Children, Go Where I Send Thee,” arranged by Mark Hayes and featuring tenor Lane Conklin.
Dressed in renaissance costumes, the FSU Chamber Choir will perform madrigals from Italy and England. They will also perform PDQ Bach’s “Two Madrigals” from “The Triumphs of Thusnelda” and “Two Hearts, Four Lips and Three Little Words.”
