Frostburg State University is accepting scholarship applications for the William “Bronc” and Verna Miller Ternent Scholarship, an award that benefits residents of the George’s Creek area (permanent address zip codes of 21521, 21539, 21542 or 21562).
To qualify, recipients must have unmet financial need as determined by FSU. Award values are $1,000 or more and the student may receive the scholarship for four consecutive years if he or she maintains an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better.
Applicants must be enrolled full time or be accepted for enrollment as undergraduate students at FSU with a declared major in early childhood/elementary education, biology, earth science, environmental analysis and planning, geography or wildlife and fisheries.
The William “Bronc” and Verna Miller Ternent scholarship was established as a memorial through the FSU Foundation. Verna Miller Ternent was an FSU graduate who taught for over 40 years at Allegany County schools. She was a noted member of the Lonaconing community and played piano at area churches. Her husband, William M. "Bronc," was the custodian of Central Elementary School and enjoyed outdoor activities throughout his life.
