The University Programming Council’s Live at the Loft committee will present Frostburg State University’s own dynamic poet Michael J. Burt at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Lane University Center’s Derezinski Lounge/Loft.
Burt, a Prince George’s County Native, is releasing his sophomore poetry collection titled, “Love Changes” on Feb. 5. What better way to celebrate the book’s release than a poetry reading on the eve of Valentine’s Day? Keenan Scott, fellow student and artist, will open the show.
Burt, who will be featured in the March issue “Essence” magazine and has opened for Def Poetry Jam’s J.Ivy, describes his latest compilation of poems as a diary revealing his most personal thoughts. Fellow contemporary poet J. Ivy says about Burt’s poetry, “With so much going on in the World, it grows difficult to intrigue someone’s mind, but that is exactly what Michael’s words do to you…They captivate you!”
This event is free and open to the public.
