The World Café is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community members to all sit down together and come up with a collective vision of an ideal Frostburg State University community through conversation and discussion. Participants are encouraged to build new relationships with others in the community through sharing their experiences and perspectives in this relaxed atmosphere.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Lane University Center Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall (ARMAH).
To further enhance the café motif, coffee and other refreshments will be provided for all involved while an artist draws the participant’s thoughts and ideas.
This café model of discussion is being used all over the world and is designed to connect diverse perspectives, encourage all contributions and share collective responses. The event is being facilitated by Nancy Margulies, a national consultant, author and artist who has worked with President Clinton, Kodak, Xerox and many other corporations and educational groups. Mariah Howard, Margulies’ business partner and an artist, will visually record the event.
The event is co-sponsored by the Department of Student and Community Involvement, The Student Government Association, the Leadership Studies Minor and University Neighbors.
