Show a Part of FSU Family Weekend Festivities
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s the mind-bending acrobatics of Cirque Le Masque, the European-style circus that will make audiences “ooh and aahh” during a show at 8 pm. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Frostburg State University’s Harold J. Cordts Physical Education Center Main Arena. The much-anticipated performance, an all-ages event just in time for FSU’s Family Weekend, is jointly organized by the Cultural Events Series, the University Programming Council and the FSU Division of Student and Educational Services.
Cirque Le Masque has captivated audiences worldwide for over 15 years. At its core are the impressive mid-air and balancing acts, which feature incredible strength, lightning reflexes, impeccable timing and theatrical artistry. Combining acrobatics, dance, mime, juggling and aerial artistry with lavish costumes, unusual props, creative music and unique special effects, this circus sets out to astound and amaze the audience. Each show is created around a theme or a story that loosely connects all the acts and performers.
Be enraptured by the Cirque dancers entering the arena with umbrellas in hand to the sounds of thunder and rain as they begin with the goddess of all seasons. They continue representing the changing of the four seasons through astounding acts as well as drama, music, comedy and movement defying the laws of gravity. As the performance progresses, increasingly complex and daring feats thrill and delight viewers young and old alike in Cirque le Masque's unique performance titled “Fire and Ice.”
Tickets for the show are $20 for the general public, $13 for faculty and staff, $10 for children 17 and under and $5 for FSU students.
