The Frostburg State University Department of Music’s Brass Ensembles will perform on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center’s Pealer Recital Hall.The concert will consist of performances by both the Mixed Brass Ensemble and the Low Brass Ensemble. Both ensembles are under the direction of Brian Plitnik.
The Brass Ensembles will perform “Suite for Brass and Tympani” by Thomas Tyra, “Three Intradas” by Vaclav Nelhybel and “Four Sketches for Brass” by William Lee. The Low Brass Ensemble will perform “Come Sweet Death” by J.S. Bach, “Low Brass Octet” by Gordon Jacob and “Finlandia” by Jan Sibelius.
The Brass Ensemble personnel consists of Anne Lewis, Greg Brightbill, Brent Mitchell, Anthony Palmer, Emmanuel Johnson, David Durham, Wayne Schmidt, Dan Kimble, B.J. Lewis, “Lucky” Beattie, Heather Buchanan, Kyle Ritchey, with additional help from Mark Gauthier on percussion. The Low Brass Ensemble consists of Brandon Strawther, Brittney Lynn, Ritchey, Buchanan, Hannah Hare, B.J. Lewis, Beattie and Schmidt.
