Dr. Thomas F. Hawk and Dr. Amit J. Shah, professors in the Department of Management at Frostburg State University, won national recognition for FSU’s College of Business when their paper, “Using Learning Style Instruments to Enhance Student Learning,” was named 2007 Best Paper in the “Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education.” The honor was announced at the 38th Annual Meeting of the Decision Sciences Institute that was held Nov. 17 through Nov. 20 in Phoenix.
“This is a very prestigious award. It highlights the quality of our FSU faculty, particularly their teaching and research skills,” said Dr. Danny Arnold, dean of the College of Business. “It is always good to receive external validation for what we already know!”
Shah teaches business policy and strategy at FSU. Dr. Hawk focuses on strategic integration and change management, learning styles and models and philosophy of education.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled about this honor,” Shah said.
“I was really excited about this paper because I’ve spent 15 years researching learning styles and models,” Hawk added.
