“The Economics of Ethanol,” featuring a discussion on the economics of ethanol and the markets that affect it, will be presented on Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m. at Frostburg State University in room 226 of the Compton Science Center.
Dr. James W. Dunn, an economics professor from Pennsylvania State University, will lead the discussion, focusing on the economics of producing ethanol as an alternative fuel and examine the corn, petroleum and feed markets. He will also discuss whether, where and when ethanol makes sense.
Dunn, a professor at Penn State since 1977, works especially in the areas of agricultural policy, food industry economics and trade. Dunn earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University.
Recently, Dunn became interested in the production and use of ethanol. After researching the subject, Dunn testified before the Pennsylvania State Senate concerning the building of an ethanol plant in Pennsylvania.
