Brian Plitnik will perform a trombone recital as part of the Frostburg State University Music Department’s Faculty Artist Series at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, in the Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall.
Plitnik is the trombone/euphonium instructor and director of brass ensembles at FSU. He has previously served as adjunct faculty at West Virginia University, where he is now in the final stages of a doctorate of musical arts degree in trombone performance.
The program will consist of “The Song of Carl Maria von Weber,” “The Hunting of the Snark for Unaccompanied Trombone” by Arne Norheim, “Sonata for Trombone and Piano” by David Ott and “Mission Red for Trombone and CD” by Michael Davis. Plitnik will be assisted by pianist Sean Beachy, who is pursuing a doctorate of musical degree in composition at WVU.
