Frostburg State University’s Activities for Life, in conjunction with the Western Potomac Chapter of the American Red Cross, will offer a lifeguard certification class from Oct. 2 to Oct. 10 in the FSU Cordts PE Center Pool. The class will be instructed by Dr. Troy Strieby.
Registration and payment deadline is Sept. 29.
Lifeguard students are required to have strong swimming skills and should be able to complete a 300 yard continuous swim using a combination of front crawl and breast stroke, and be able to perform an underwater retrieval technique. Participants must be present for all classroom and pool times. Refunds will not be given after the start of the course.
The classes will be held on Oct. 2, 6 to 9 p.m.; Oct. 3, 6 to 9 p.m.; Oct. 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Oct. 7, 6 to 9 p.m.; Oct. 10, 6 to 9 p.m.
