Frostburg State University senior Ashley Burton will perform a flute recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the FSU Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. The recital will include Bach’s “Sonata in E Major,” Enesco’s “Cantabile et Presto,” Hindersmith’s “Acht Stucke” and Piazzolla’s “Histoire du Tango.”
Burton will be accompanied on piano by her mother, Sarah Burton, and on the Piazzolla piece by fellow student Hannah Lagno on marimba.
A music education major and Spanish minor, Burton hopes to become a middle school band director following graduation in May. She plans to open a private studio as well. Burton has studied under FSU music lecturer Pamela Murchison. Her earlier instruction was under Kristin Bacchiocchi-Stewart. Burton is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota.
Burton’s performance is free and open to the public. For information, contact FSU’s Department of Music at 301-687-4109.
